The role will include:

Leading communications campaigns through planning, activation and evaluation, using the Government Communications OASIS framework.

Working with colleagues across HMRC Communications, and sometimes across Government, to co-ordinate a collaborative approach across paid-for marketing and no cost activities.

Briefing and working with external agencies for media planning and buying, creative development and production, influencers and partnership marketing.

Building strong stakeholder relationships and providing pro-active communications consultancy, support and challenge.

Managing competing priorities and organising own workload.

Managing campaign budgets and ensuring value for money for chosen activities.

Seeking out and suggesting innovative solutions and fresh ideas to ongoing challenges.

Championing knowledge sharing and upskilling the wider team on campaigns.

The Communications & Guidance Directorate, more broadly, delivers professional communications on behalf of HMRC and is recognised one of the largest and busiest communications teams in government.

We deliver communications for the organisation through a host of functions including:

HMRC communications and Guidance has a focus on building professional competence, and individuals are expected to hold a range of key skillsets including the ability to use data insights, digital channels, and utilise strong relationship management skills to help us deliver effective and innovative professional communications for the organisation.

Job holders in this grade will carry out a range of activities across communications professional disciplines to support efficient running of the directorate. This may involve being deployed across any of the communications teams and functional areas to support emerging priority work.

Person specification

Essential Criteria:

Strong experience in delivering paid-for marketing campaigns supported across a range of channels, using the GCS OASIS framework.

Experience in briefing and working with external agencies for marketing communications.

Experience in evaluating and optimising campaigns as they progress, as well as conducting and presenting post-campaign evaluation.

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex challenges proactively.

Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams, translating complex scenarios into actionable plans.

Results-oriented with the ability to take initiative and deliver high-quality work promptly.

GCS membership (or willingness to join).

Desirable Criteria:

Qualification in Communications or Marketing.

Sift

Interview
