Good morning, in my interview I think I used the STAR method.

Anonymous asked a question to Prudencia O.

But received feedback: your answer could have benefitted from using the STAR format. Really I confused what I did wrong. I would be very grateful if you could help me.

Good morning and thank you for reaching out. I’m really sorry I can’t give detailed feedback myself, but you might want to contact the chair or the vacancy holder and request verbal feedback. You could explain that you’d like to understand what you could have done differently so you can improve for next time.

It’s great that you used the STAR method, sometimes feedback like this means they were looking for clearer structure or more emphasis on certain parts (e.g., the Result). A quick conversation with them should give you more insight.

I thought I’d also share this YouTube video on mastering your interview in case you haven’t seen it before: https://youtu.be/CyR41pq06Mw?si=nFwCZ_lJXGplLIxm. It has some useful tips on structuring answers using STAR.

Wishing you the best with your development! Warm wishes, Pru x
