I'm not sure where you're based, but I had a quick search on Civil Service Jobs and can see that HMRC currently has a Lead Data Engineer vacancy advertised in our Chief Data Office. It's a Grade 7 permanent role and applications close on 15 September 2026.

If nothing suitable comes up in your preferred location, you can also set up job alerts so you're notified when new opportunities are advertised.
With your experience as a Lead Data Engineer, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on HMRC and wider Civil Service digital and data roles. There are often opportunities across data engineering, cloud, analytics and digital delivery.
