Daryna H. asked a question to Marta ..
Good afternoon, I am interested in whether I can get a job in your service if I am a citizen of Ukraine, but I live here under British laws and have a visa extended until the 26th year, and then it was extended for another 18 months, that is, do I have the right to work AND live in Britain. Do I have the right to work in such a position?
Generally, Ukrainian nationals with valid visas under schemes such as the Ukraine Family Scheme, Homes for Ukraine scheme, or Ukraine Extension Scheme are permitted to live and work in the UK. Please see link below for more information.
If in doubt, the job advert usually includes contact details for the vacancy holder – they’ll be able to confirm whether you’re eligible.
Given your visa extension for 18 months, it's important to also consider the long-term implications for a permanent position.
When your current visa expires, you will need to apply for a renewal to continue working and living in the UK. The UK Government has provisions for extending visas under schemes like the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme. If you plan to renew your visa, it would be helpful to start preparing in advance to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you very much for your answer, but I still don't understand because I don't understand what position I should be in, since Ukraine is not yet a member of the European Union. And we, Ukrainians, are probably considered refugees here. Although I don't understand the correctness of this moment, and since I tried to fill out the application, I was refused. I'm trying to fill out the application for this vacancy Customer Service Advisor https://url6.mailanyone.net/scanner?m=1uAovg-00000000AOD-4ALr&d=4%7Cmail%2F90%2F1746186600%2F1uAovg-00000000AOD-4ALr%7Cin6h%7C57e1b682%7C10283296%7C12421298%7C6814B1D094DD7F642B1B54E9382F28FE&o=%2Fphtw%3A%2Fwtssiw.rilecvsevisob.cjgierve.ovc%2F%2F.unsrikc%3F.deIgiSxcWGD%3DjnZFcF2vdGWj1albnmV3qjYldF0sb2nXNJJaG2BhzjbFZVzKczn2JJ1bHXNlvjaNYJv9cnm2NcQcGmUmzibla932dF3WVX9aTzZhwxOUY035NDmm9bYJTHVymwZ1dlzyYWXnVZlJ2WJzjyYhZF00b2TXhP5ZDDEzxzOAMgyzMi2WFYZZTWhwmlPEYd9ub3TXINdZCDA3ywMZMA9zZXTWcMFaDjc013McNEz1MCmGYN0ZDjMym2MFYAwiM2DzANVMmmVi1kNQYRm2NjWmRYcY2MTOmR&s=ZVIqGE_gJWWV8R_737f_-wkWNys. Please tell me if I can somehow update it, because I tried to update my data, but it still says that I was refused.
Hello Daryna,
Thank you for your message, and I completely understand why you're feeling unsure, these processes can be quite complex, especially with the added considerations around immigration status.
I’ve looked into the job you applied for and typically, they are open to UK nationals, people from certain Commonwealth or EU countries, and those with indefinite leave to remain.
You mentioned you're in the UK as a Ukrainian citizen, if you're here under one of the Ukraine schemes (like the Homes for Ukraine or Ukraine Family Scheme), you do have the right to live and work in the UK. therefore I believe you can apply for this role. That said, if you believe there was a mistake when you filled out the eligibility section, you may still have a chance to correct it — but you must act quickly.
The guidance says you need to contact the recruitment team at least two working days before the vacancy closes.
Here’s what you should do:
Please don’t give up — it’s great that you’re asking questions and staying proactive. I hope this helps.
Warm wishes,
Pru x
