Hi, my team is spread across various locations, we have daily catchup calls and regular monthly team meeting, this helps to ensure that all team members talk on a daily basis and discuss any issues/concerns on the team. Maintaining regular contact is key to building a high-performance team. I try and make sure that everyone feels included and valued and that their voice is heard.
I work with other BAs, technical specialists and finance colleagues. With a varied set of people and skills being involved, clear communication is everything; both in day-to-day contact and underlying project documentation. More generally, we have daily team stand-ups and community of practice sessions at least once a week.
My team is spread over several locations, but the people I manage are only over 2 locations. The majority of my team work in the same office I do. I was therefore used to working with them quite closely, but this became more challenging once COVID and the Pandemic hit us. There was nothing in place for any sort of team catch up, but I felt that this was important, once a week, to talk about issues/concerns with work, but not only that, to talk about personal items as well, such as what we did over the weekend etc, similar to how you would if you worked in the office together. I feel that having these weekly meetings, which I have continued, definitely helps to build the team morale.
My team is spread quite widely geographically so we have a daily check in call and regular catch ups in addition. I like cameras on to build the team experience. Each person speaks to share their news, work issues, hot spots as well as providing a space to ask questions and seek clarification.
