Firstly, well done on achieving your MAAT status and continuing with your ATT studies. That is a fantastic achievement and shows real commitment and determination.

I know it can be really frustrating when you're applying for lots of roles and not getting the opportunities you're looking for, but please don't give up. It only takes one person to see your potential and give you that chance.

If you haven't already, I'd also recommend creating an account on https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/ and setting up job alerts so you're notified when relevant opportunities are advertised.

Don't be afraid to look at entry-level roles too. For example, Compliance Caseworker roles within HMRC can be a great way to get your foot in the door, build experience and develop a career in tax and compliance. Many people start in one role and progress from there.

If there is a named contact on the advert, I would encourage you to get in touch before you apply. It can be a great opportunity to learn more about the role, the team and what they are particularly looking for in an application. Use that insight to tailor your application, making sure you clearly demonstrate how your skills, qualifications and experience match the requirements of the job.

I'd also encourage you to ask someone you trust to review your CV and application before you submit it. A fresh pair of eyes can often make a big difference.

If you're fortunate enough to secure an interview but are unsuccessful, don't be afraid to contact the vacancy holder or interview chair afterwards and ask for more detailed feedback. Ask what you did well, what you could have done differently and what would strengthen your application for future opportunities. That feedback can be invaluable and often helps people succeed next time around.

Keep going. You already have valuable qualifications and experience, and your persistence will pay off.
