I come from a scientific background and was interested in the TSP post. Would you any information about the daily work?

Anonymous asked a question to Lubna

Hi Lubna I have a Masters in Biological Sciences, but was interested in the TSP programme. Would you have any information about the daily work/study involved, and if this would be suitable for a person with a science background? Thanks

    Lubna Tax Specialist/Manager/Techical Leader

Hi, Thanks for the question. TSP is a tax technical specialist programme which means that your daily work will cover a range of tax areas depending on the stage of the programme. Your background in science is not directly beneficial when it comes to your daily work but as a scientist, there are number of useful skills that you'd bring to the role such as analysis, attention to detail and objective assessment of facts, all of which are instrumental for a tax specialist. Every year, people from all sorts of educational backgrounds join TSP (we have musician, mechanical engineer, physicist and economist colleagues amongst us). The programme assumes that you have zero knowledge about tax and teaches you everything from scratch which works well for colleagues from variety of professional backgrounds.
