Hi. I got a call from Hiring manager that I cleared interview for a senior role. The role is said to be critical role as it receives critical allowance. On the second call, I was told I would be getting a conditional offer letter as I would need to get visa Sponsorship. Now I am not sure of the process? Would HMRC sponsor visa? How does the process work as I already received verbal offer and accepted? Could you please help me? Thanks. Appreciate you help and support
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out, and congratulations again on clearing the interview.
To help clarify the sponsorship process and next steps, here is an overview of how visa sponsorship works within HMRC:
Visa Sponsorship Eligibility
HMRC does sponsor Skilled Worker visas in certain circumstances, but sponsorship is relatively rare, with only a small number approved each year. Sponsorship is only considered where:
Types of Roles Considered
There isn’t a set list of roles that automatically qualify for sponsorship. Each vacancy is reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis by the hiring business area.
In general:
Ultimately, the decision sits with the HR Director of the hiring business area once the request is submitted.
What Happens Next
For sponsorship to be considered, the hiring manager or vacancy holder must complete a formal business case which is then reviewed by the HR Director for that business area. Only after this review can sponsorship be approved or declined.
Because of this, the next step is normally:
So your conditional offer simply means:
“We want to appoint you, subject to successful completion of the visa sponsorship approval process.”
What You Should Do Now
To avoid any uncertainty, I would recommend:
A simple line you can say is:
“Thank you for the conditional offer. As the offer is subject to visa sponsorship approval, could you please confirm that the sponsorship business case will now be submitted to HR?”
In Summary
I hope the above helps.
Warm wishes,
Pru
