Job Description
The role of the Business Case Specialist is to prepare and maintain a robust Business Case, which justifies the necessary investment in the project, and determines whether the project is (and continues to be) desirable, viable and achievable.
Responsibilities:
Leads the planning, development and drafting, and oversees the production of Business Case.
Prepared to challenge expert input, and is responsible for ensuring the business complies with organisational and Treasury requirements.
Use lessons learned from similar projects to inform Business Case preparation.
Devise and provide guidance and advice to project teams on the requirements and development of Business Case, using organisational templates and HMT 5 case model.
Present Business Case rationale to senior managers and project governance forums, work with key stakeholders to anticipate and mitigate issues and delays whilst engaging with senior management.
Ensures that all relevant organisational factors for change are incorporated within a comprehensive Business Case, and that there is a clear rationale for preferred option/s.
Lead on adopting configuration management techniques to ensure that the BusinessCase retains validity throughout the project lifecycle, updating project sponsors as required
Leads engagement with stakeholders to identify, define and quantify benefits,negotiating with stakeholders to agree the key benefits.
Manage and engage with key stakeholders to support the production of Business Cases and ensure linkage with benefits realisation.
Essential criteria:
Clear, demonstrable evidence of leading business case management.
Experience of working in a high complexity project or programme.
Experience of developing and maintaining business cases on a range of project types.
Desirable criteria:
Ability and evidence of coaching more junior members of staff on all aspects of business cases.
