Description

HMRC are looking to identify 2 senior IT Project Managers to play a key role in supporting the delivery of projects within a largescale transformation programme that will see the move of our existing SAP ECC6 platform (known as the Enterprise Tax Management Platform) to S4Hana. The senior project managers will be allocated to more complex projects that carry higher degrees of risk. You could be leading a single large scale project or multiple projects within the wider programme. In all cases you should expect to work in an environment of considerable uncertainty, a wide range of technical and business stakeholders and conflicting priorities.

  • Roles and Responsibilities
    • Lead, Manage and Deliver technical and IT enabled projects for the ETMP Regen Programme. This will include;
    • Develop / maintain e2e delivery plans that cover the agreed scope. Develop / update the project POAP to provide high level overview of delivery as needed
    • Production of weekly status report to document project / workstream health and communicate progress to CDIO and wider stakeholder
    • Identification, management and mitigation of IT risks, issues, and dependencies
    • Raise, Monitor and challenge commercials/costs raised for the project / workstream
    • Forecast and track IT cost associated with the project / workstream
    • Understand delivery approach and support delivery groups / partners (including external suppliers) via escalation management, guidance and performance management
    • Identification of Resource and Capacity requirements needed to deliver the programme.
    • Leadership of the projects/workstreams to progress the IT project through HMRC Project Lifecycle Stages

  • Essential Criteria
    • Solid understanding of technical and architectural environments and a demonstrable experience of using and maintaining processes, tools and techniques to ensure that services to be transitioned to “Live” are planned, tested and validated in all deployment activities.
    • Significant experience in delivering complex or high risk technical and IT enabled projects within agreed time, cost and quality constraints. You will have achieved this using your expert knowledge of project management tools and methodologies, and be capable of designing a project structure and organisation to meet the requirements of the project according to its point in the lifecycle.
    • Be experienced and credible in dealing with a broad and complex range of stakeholders, with the confidence to engage with senior leaders. You will have a proactive approach, and be used to operating with a high degree of autonomy where there is ambiguity and change in a project.
    • Have practical experience in actively managing project risks and issues, able to make decisions, engage in dialogue on risk management strategy, and demonstrate a level of skill beyond simply ‘managing a process’. You will be able to apply your skills to a range of risks, with a sound understanding of how they relate to wider strategy.
    • Be an experienced people manager, able to build and develop a high performing and motivated project team. You will be tuned in to the needs of the business, ready to f lex structures to ensure that your project team remains aligned with delivery goals and wider strategy
    • Have managed a project through the key stages in its lifecycle, from inception to project closure. Whilst not essential, experience of having engaged with assurance reviews, such as the Gateway Review process, would be desirable
