With one of the largest organisational change portfolios, this is an exciting time to join a new Transformation Directorate within Customer Compliance Group (CCG).

Within CCG Transformation, a significant part of our role is working with the wider HMRC portfolio of projects and programmes including Making Tax Digital and the Single Customer Account Programme as well as those that are CCG-led such as Protect Connect and Joint Insolvency Management Service, to support the end-to-end change lifecycle of business-critical systems from early design through to business readiness and embedding activity.


Job description:

The role of the SO Project Manager (PM) covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project’s objectives. The PM enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager and senior programme team through the effective operation of programme management processes, and the coordination of actions and activities on their behalf. As a member of the Project Delivery Team you will be assigned to a specific project from the Complex Customer Management Programme, which sits within the Transformation Directorate (TD) portfolio.


Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining Project controls including producing project reporting such as highlight reports and project board packs

Lead delivery of agreed project outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints

Scheduling of project boards and other programme meetings and production of relevant management information and minutes as required

Build, manage and maintain the delivery plans / schedules using the relevant tools

Supporting the programme team with quality assurance, including achievement, delivery against and tracking of milestones

Supporting the senior Project manager and senior Programme team with benefits management, including measurement and tracking where appropriate

Supporting the senior Project manager with producing business cases and relevant governance documents

Ensure change management processes in place and impacting agreed with Stakeholders

Assist with and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling

Responsible for appropriate filing and structuring using the agreed version control standards

Act as a focal point for external requests for project information; assist with maintenance of the stakeholder log for internal and external stakeholders and establish effective relationships

Monitoring and tracking of project resources; tracking delivery spend within budget

Keeping the project generally well-organised and in good order with adherence to good project management practices

Identify, monitor, develop mitigations and escalate any risks and issues

Providing ad hoc support to the Senior Project Manager as required


Essential Criteria: (include any relevant qualifications)

Significant practical experience of working in a programme or project environment

Excellent organisational and time management skills; able to bring about and maintain good order

Able to consolidate information effectively using the Microsoft Office 365 tools including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Planner and represent visually in a meaningful and clear manner

Able to communicate with transparency, integrity, brevity and possess the ability to manage multiple tasks without compromising quality

A relevant professional qualification such as MSP, APM, PRINCE2

Excellent written and drafting skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision


Desirable Criteria: (if applicable)

A good awareness of Change Management principles, ideally Prosci

Several years’ experience in a project management role

Additional relevant professional qualifications such as MoR, Agile
