Person specification
• Support the planning and delivery of data discovery activities across HMRC's transformation programmes.
• Assist in promoting consistency and collaboration across programmes including sharing insights, highlighting common challenges, helping identify early impacts and contribute to improved delivery outcomes.
• Promote capture of reusable data insights using enterprise architecture and metadata tools to support evidence-based decision-making and knowledge reuse.
• Support the promotion of good data practices across transformation teams.
• Assist with contract and supplier co-ordination where required, under the guidance of more senior colleagues.
• Be an active and positive team member - sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and contributing to continuous improvement in how discovery work is delivered.

Essential Criteria
• Understanding of data management and governance principles, with a willingness to develop expertise in complex, high data volume organisational settings.
• Proven track record of positive stakeholder relationships and management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present both technical and non-technical ideas clearly, write reports, and influence others to support data-driven approaches.
• Experience supporting teams, including working with a mix of permanent staff, temporary workers, or external suppliers.

Desirable Criteria
• Familiarity with tools such as ABACUS, AXON, or Power BI.
• Awareness of AI or automation tools used in data discovery.
• Ability to produce simple data visualisation to support communication and reuse.

Sift

Hybrid working at HMRC
