About the Role

As Strategic Design Lead, you will:

Lead a multi-disciplinary team comprising Civil Servants, consultants, and analysts to co-design end-to-end services that are customer-centric, agile, and aligned with programme outcomes.

Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across the CCG-TD portfolio to shape and deliver transformational change.

Build and maintain a strong network of senior stakeholders to support programme design and delivery.

Engage with policy and strategy teams to ensure business systems, workflows, and processes contribute effectively to the target operating model.

Embed departmental and programme assurance principles to drive quality and consistency in design outcomes.

Partner with client-side support consultants to identify and apply leading practices from across government and industry.

Work closely with CDIO colleagues to translate business designs into technical solutions that meet user and business needs.

Support change and readiness teams in identifying and managing the impacts of new processes across business areas.

Champion user-centred design principles and lead design review sessions with professional leads and team members.

Play an active role in the senior leadership team, influencing strategic decisions and contributing to workforce planning.

Essential Criteria: (include any relevant qualifications)


  • Experience of working with and leading a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of end-to-end service transformation covering people, organisation, process and technology elements.
  • Ability to coach and influence both senior stakeholders and peers less familiar with User Centred Design (UCD) practices.
  • Experience of working in at Programme level and or withing a portfolio of Projects.
  • Experience of operating in and influencing a complex business design change environment.
  • Experience of leading a team of programme and project professionals.
