  • Competitive

Contract from November - March 2027

We want to maximise the potential of everyone who chooses to work for us. We offer a great work life balance. You have the opportunity to work at any of our brand-new Regional Centres and to also work remotely. Contracts vary in length dependent upon the project with the possibility to extend.

Your time spent with us short or long term will be invaluable - your skills and expertise are needed to deliver the largest digital and transformation projects in Government. There really couldn’t be a better time to join HMRC for your new contract opportunity!

We are looking for a Supplier Manager to join CDIO Borders & Trade and help us strengthen and improve the way we manage suppliers and contracts.

This is an opportunity to combine your supplier and contract management experience with strong process improvement skills. You will review how we currently work, identify where processes can be simplified or improved, and help establish clear, consistent and efficient ways of working across the team.

Working closely with Delivery, Commercial, Finance, Security, major programmes and suppliers, you will turn complex processes into practical, accessible ways of working. You will create process documentation, guidance, templates and training materials, while using data and insight to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation.

Alongside this improvement work, you will continue to support day-to-day supplier management, procurement and contract governance activity.

In this role, you will:

  • Review and map existing end-to-end supplier, contract management and procurement processes, identifying gaps, duplication, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and document improved ways of working, including process maps, standard operating procedures, guidance, templates and supporting materials.
  • Clearly define roles, responsibilities, controls and escalation routes across key Supplier Management processes.
  • Use data and management information to identify trends, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Explore opportunities to simplify or automate manual activities and improve how information is captured, stored and shared.
  • Develop training, onboarding and knowledge-transfer materials and support workshops and knowledge-sharing across the team.
  • Support supplier performance and relationship management, including risks, issues, budgets and continuous improvement.
  • Support Statements of Work, Change Requests and other contract documentation through appropriate governance processes.
  • Provide Supplier Management input into procurement, mobilisation and supplier transition activities.
  • Maintain accurate contract records, trackers, decisions and audit evidence.
  • Support or lead supplier reviews, providing clear updates on performance, finance, risks, issues and actions.

Essential criteria

  • Experience of Supplier Management, Contract Management and Procurement, including supplier performance, commercial governance, risk and issue management.
  • Strong experience of reviewing, mapping and improving end-to-end business processes, identifying inefficiencies and translating findings into practical improvements.
  • Experience of creating clear and practical process documentation, including procedures, guidance, process maps, templates and supporting materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience of using data and management information to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience of working across multidisciplinary teams and constructively challenging existing ways of working.
  • Experience of developing and embedding new ways of working, including training, coaching, onboarding or knowledge-transfer materials.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working within Government or another large and complex organisation.
  • Experience of identifying opportunities to simplify or automate business processes.
