So you have a number of avenues you can pursue from the Tax Specialist Programme that Bal has mentioned done to direct entry roles for customer service or compliance officer roles. I was 28 when I joined HMRC and my experience was primarily retail so your numeracy, verbal reasoning and situational judgement is what is assessed rather than experience.

The adverts in the career website will state whether experience is necessary but I would strongly recommend setting up an alert, some windows for job applications can be very short so you want to know there is a job that is of interest to you as soon as possible to give you time to ask for help and get feedback on your application before submitting.
