    Hi there,

Yes, absolutely, most of our Customer Service roles at HMRC don’t require any formal qualifications. What really matters is your attitude, communication skills and experience working with customers, so you’re already in a strong position.

When the jobs open, definitely apply. And if you’re from Leeds, that’s perfect, HMRC has roles across the UK, including your area.

A couple of things that will really help you prepare for the  roles:

    1. Set up job alerts on Civil Service Jobs

This means you won’t miss any openings,  the system will email you as soon as a job matching what you’re looking for goes live.
You can set alerts by grade, location, key words or profession. It only takes a few minutes.

    2. Practise the assessments before doing the real one

The tests you get depend on the role. For Customer Service Advisor jobs, it’s usually the Customer Service Skills Test.
Practising in advance makes a big difference, it helps you get used to the style of questions and boosts your confidence.

Wishing you all the very best as you take your next career steps and I really hope that one day we’ll be welcoming you into the HMRC family.

    Warm wishes,
    Pru
