HMRC require Data Management Consultants who will help with building and mapping data relationships within Informatica.

A successful candidate for this role will work with the Informatica Enterprise Data Catalogue (EDC), Business Data Glossary, mapped Business Processes Models and their data elements, and have an opportunity to work with the Informatica Data Privacy Module (DPM).

Data Management Consultants / Analysts will help develop the tools that will provide valuable insights into HMRC’s technical metadata, data lineage (including personal information), risks and controls.

Owing to the sensitive nature of the data work, valid UK SC Clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end technical design and configuration for Informatica solutions, focusing on Data Protection and ICO Compliance (primarily Axon and EDC).
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in the Informatica ecosystem and effectively communicate its value to ICO and key stakeholders.

Metadata Onboarding & Governance

  • Execute standard onboarding of technical and business metadata into Informatica Axon, ensuring alignment with HMRC’s metadata strategy.
  • Maintain and enhance the Business Data Glossary, ensuring consistency with business definitions, ownership, and standards.

Catalogue Configuration & Domain Management

  • Work extensively with Informatica Enterprise Data Catalogue (EDC) to capture, enrich, and manage technical metadata across HMRC’s data estate.
  • Build and manage data domains and domain groups in EDC and Catalog Administrator, using Regular Expressions to automate classification and improve metadata accuracy.
  • Support the development of data lineage views, including tracking of personal and sensitive information across systems.

Mapping & Process Integration

  • Link data elements to Business Process Models to support an understanding, reuse, and alignment with operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to ensure metadata reflects real-world data usage and process dependencies.

Tooling & Insight Enablement

  • Contribute to the development of metadata-driven tools that provide insights into HMRC’s data landscape, including lineage, quality, and governance metrics.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong integration experience ideally with Informatica Axon or similar tools, Enterprise Data Catalogue and Data Process Mapping and showcase its usage to Stakeholders;
  • Strong experience of managing data management and governance solutions using Informatica products or similar across large enterprises;
  • Strong experience dealing with senior level stakeholders across organisational divisions;
  • Desirable experience in working to an agile/DevOps delivery;
  • Proficiency in Informatica Enterprise Data Catalogue (EDC), including domain configuration and metadata enrichment.
  • Experience with Informatica Axon for business metadata management and glossary development.
  • Ability to use Regular Expressions within EDC and Catalog Admin to automate domain grouping and metadata classification.
  • Experience linking data elements to business process models to support semantic layer development and reuse.
