HMRC's ServiceNow Team is looking for x4 Front-End Developers.

We’re modernising how 66,000+ colleagues access digital services, using the ServiceNow platform to drive automation, improve user experience, and deliver smarter, faster ways of working.

As part of our Chief Digital & Information Group (CDIO), you’ll help build and enhance enterprisewide ServiceNow capabilities across ITSM, HR, CSM, Security Operations and more. You’ll work with modern tools, collaborate with talented digital professionals, and contribute to meaningful change that impacts millions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop modern, maintainable user interfaces in ServiceNow using UI Builder, Now Experience components, Client Scripts, custom widgets, and Service Portal tooling.
  • Implement enhancements across HRSD, ITSM, ITOM, IRM and Workflow products (forms, UI policies, clientside logic, dynamic page elements).
  • Support workflow automation by building Flow Designer flows, business rules, and task orchestration logic.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, refinement, estimation, planning) and contribute to sprint delivery.
  • Contribute to test automation adoption using ATF and additional tooling (e.g., AutomatePro for PoA/PoV activities; regression suite buildout).
  • Ensure all UI changes meet accessibility, performance, and UX standards in line with CDIO platform guidance.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and reusable component libraries; support troubleshooting across environments.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven ServiceNow UI development experience (UI Builder, Now Experience, Service Portal, Client Scripts, custom widgets).
  • Handson experience enhancing HRSD/ITSM/ITOM/IRM/Workflow products (forms, UI policies, client logic, dynamic UI).
  • Practical knowledge of Flow Designer, business rules, and orchestration for workflow automation.
  • Demonstrable Agile team experience (participation in ceremonies, estimation, and iterative delivery).
  • Familiarity with ATF and test automation practices/tooling (e.g., AutomatePro) for building and maintaining regression suites.
  • Strong grasp of accessibility standards, performance optimisation, and UX best practices; ability to align with CDIO guidance.
  • Excellent documentation habits and code hygiene, with experience creating component libraries and supporting multienvironment troubleshooting.
