3 month initial contract working from one of our regional Centres

The Role

Reporting directly to the Security Systems Manager, the team sits within the Operational Contract Management & Support Services function, providing support to the security systems SO to manage the operation, coordination and consistent approach of physical security systems and related operational work: in use, being installed, implemented and maintained across the HMRC estate.

The Deputy Security Systems Manager will support the National Security Systems manager to ensure the smooth running and operation of our physical security systems by ensuring they are maintained and used effectively in HMRC premises. They will ensure we take a consistent approach, in line with HMRC’s operational security standards.

The Deputy Security Systems Manager will support with planning for current and future systems use and implement plans. They will provide system support and guidance for Regional Security Managers and help with trouble shooting.

The Deputy Security System Manager will support

  • The development and smooth running of a Security Ops Centre for HMRC, in line with our strategy, NPSA guidance and industry best practice.
  • The implementation of GovPass
  • The development and maintenance of system asset registers
  • Assurance programmes

Duties will include

  • Assist with organisation and implementation of the operational training and work requirements for access control, CCTV, alarm and intercom systems for both Security Services and the wider HMRC teams as part of the Security Systems Enterprise Contract (SSEC).
  • Carry out assurance to ensure KPI’s / SLA’s/ key deliverables are met by suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Support and provide best practice advice on day-to-day use, maintenance regimes and working policies for access control systems
  • Support the security team, wider colleagues and third-party contractors working on networked live service, fire alarm systems, automated doors, turnstiles and lifts etc. to provide a coordinated response to issues that affect the day to day systems operations across the estate.
  • Support the delivery of a national Security Operations Centre through standardisation and best practice of security system configuration, working with others to develop standard operating processes.
  • Work with a range of stakeholders to support implementation of GovPass, through project support, creation of process maps and risk management.
  • Support the National Security Systems Manager in developing specifications for access control systems (SSEC) live service, legacy standalone systems and maintenance with the aim of delivering them all though our next generation security contract.
  • Work with a range of stakeholders to manage risks in business area
  • Work with SIBP team and SO manager to draft Business Impact Assessments, Data Protection Impact Assessments and take forward actions in risk treatment plans.
  • Carry out ad hoc security risk assessments
  • Participate in an “on call” roster out of hours
  • Travel and occasional overnight stays in connection with core business

Essential Criteria

  • NSV SC security clearance
  • Experience in operational and physical security.
  • Knowledge of access control systems and security systems management
  • Knowledge of data protection policies and GDPR.
