Investigation Hub Higher Officers will be responsible for the management of staff delivering core services, covering a variety of activities forming part of every criminal and civil investigation carried out by HMRC.

The role requires the individual to be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment delivering at pace whilst being able to adapt to change positively & efficiently.
Staff management is required.

Higher Hub Officers will have responsibility for overseeing a wide range of roles requiring flexibility and to be able to work on an adhoc basis.

They will provide excellent service to a range of customers supporting investigations through activities such as:
  • Developing professional stakeholder relationships with investigators to support planning and delivery.
  • Have a working knowledge of Investigation Services.
  • Liaising with other teams within FIS to achieve the best outcome for the customer.
As a leader within the Hub you will additionally:
  • Manage work allocations to ensure high quality, timely, delivery of essential services to support FIS investigations.
  • Ensure tasks undertaken are of the highest standard through quality assurance processes.
  • Motivate staff to perform to the best of their ability within a supportive culture, dealing with issues as they arise.
  • Lead staff through change delivering messages positively & promptly.
  • Attendance on the ISOT course maybe required, which may require travel with an overnight stay.
  • Additional travel maybe required, alongside overnight stays.
Person specification

Deliver high quality, professional and accessible services, anticipating the needs of our investigations by:
  • Management of staff at O / AO Grade, and completion of the Management Development Program.
  • Lead on effective customer engagement and prioritisation using the FIS Workflow Tool and Performance Dashboard, to ensure high quality, timely, delivery of core services to support FIS investigations.
  • Adhere to all HMRC HR policies in relation to staff management and Performance Development Conversations, with a clear focus on developing your team.
  • Work collaboratively to build skills, capabilities, share best practice and deliver business objectives.
  • Implement quality assurance to ensure that taskings undertaken, are of the highest standard.
  • Champion teams work, constantly seeking opportunities to support compliance teams, with the objective of saving time for our caseworkers.
  • Conduct security/ management/ assurance checks.
  • Coach and guide team members to support them in delivering their objectives, focussing on personal development and ensuring compliance with our legal responsibilities and professional standards.
  • Involvement in Business Continuity Planning, risk assessments, Health & Safety matters, management assurance, liaison with OGDs and other external bodies. Oversight on security issues and procedures.
  • Management of the official vehicle fleet, other assets, equipment and property storage for your location.
  • Contributing to a supportive culture, that can realise the operational potential of your team to deliver against the Investigation Services SLAs and KPI's.
  • Developing a professional relationship with local investigators and case teams.
  • Showing good judgement and decision making skills, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
Essential Criteria
  • Management experience.
  • Willingness to attend and complete the Management Development Programme.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, both written & verbally.
  • An ability to pay particular attention to detail, to support and assure the work of others.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Applicants must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office O365 products, including Word and Excel.

Sift

Interview

During the panel interview, your Experience will be assessed and you will be asked behaviour-based questions to explore in detail what you are capable of. You will also be asked strength-based questions to also explore what you enjoy and your motivations relevant to the job role.
