This is an exciting time to join the team, working alongside a talented group of professionals focused on delivering actionable insights on high-profile themes that impact the HMRC workforce.

The role sits in the Customer Delivery team within PAI. This team is responsible for carrying out both quantitative and qualitative analysis and insight on HMRC people data. As a People Analytics & Insights Officer you will lead the exploration of a range of sophisticated data sources using a variety of analytical tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the project lead to understand user and business needs, and design analytical solutions.
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering a variety of research and analytical projects to an agreed schedule, ensuring business needs are met.
  • Synthesise data from a wide range of sources, using storytelling techniques to present a coherent narrative which drives action within our business groups.
  • Work in an agile way to define, build and deliver analytical projects.
  • Validation and interpretation of data to ensure the data is fit for purpose, and any data quality issues are raised and resolved.
  • Create informative and visually appealing outputs to communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate data findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of the implications to the business.
  • Collaborate effectively on projects within diverse and multidisciplinary teams, fostering an innovative environment to achieve shared goals
Person specification

You will have real passion for analysis, a proactive approach and be able to deliver analytical products to maximise impact. You will be patient, level-headed and able to deliver at pace. You take the initiative and work independently when required. You will have the skills to identify and predict patterns of behaviour to understand emerging trends.

Essential Criteria:

Experience delivering data analysis projects including data preparation and use of statistical techniques.

Proficient in statistical software packages such as R Studio/SPSS, and strong Excel skills.

Experience of interpretation and presentation of data using effective written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with data storytelling principles to develop a coherent and engaging narrative from a range of data sources.

Strong attention to detail to ensure data quality assurance and data analysis validation.

Formal Qualification required:
  • Undergraduate degree, at a minimum of 2:2, with sufficient data and analytical methods training (comprising around one third of modules taken in the course).
OR
  • Undergraduate degree, at a minimum of 2:2, in any subject, or a degree equivalent (for example, an advanced Certificate or Diploma from MRS) and have at least 2 years' data and analytical experience in practice.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree, at a minimum of 2:2, with sufficient data and analytical methods training (comprising around one third of modules taken in the course).

OR
