The role of the Business Case Manager is to prepare and maintain robust business cases, which articulate the necessary initial and continued investment in programmes & projects. Determines whether programmes & projects are (and continues to be) desirable, viable and achievable.

• Co-ordinates the planning and production of business cases
• Leads on and contributes to the development of business cases in line with HMT’s five-case model
• Maps the business case approval/governance route and co-ordinates submissions to relevant Boards
• Provides support and guidance to project teams on the requirements and development of business cases, following HMT’s five-case model
• Provide business case review and assurance for business cases impacting the business group
• Works with the Portfolio Office and Programme Manager to support activity to identify, define and quantify benefits.

Essential Criteria

• Experience developing business cases in a project management or programme using HMT's five case model
