Never by shy or afraid to try something new and don't expect opportunities to come to you, they might do, if you're in the right place at the right time but mostly, it's about keeping your eyes open. Taking action on your goals and believing in yourself is important, lets face it, you are your own best friend. Be open and flexible and avoid linear thinking as you can miss opportunities right in front of you. Doing something different to your business as usual is a great way to meet new people, network and learn more about yourself.

Key experience
From studying Science at University, I left the Banking Sector after a few years. I qualified with a BSc and an MSc in a Science subject, spending the next few years working in a laboratory culturing cells and carrying out experiments. In 2020, I joined HMRC in the Tax Department, working on different projects but now I am itching for a change. I aspire for a role as a Policy Advisor in Cabinet Office or a similar Government Department. I am looking for a new challenge and a purpose doing a job that is fulfilling and rewarding that will develop the skills I've gained in HMRC and competencies to nail that new job and career.
Current position
I collect unpaid taxes, negotiating payment plans and managing my own case load. I have developed effective communication and negotiation skills when setting up payment arrangements. I plan and prioritise my work and have successfully collected thousand of pounds of unpaid taxes. From working on Self Assessment and now Disguised Remuneration loans I am consistently over delivering. On the side, I like to volunteer, putting myself forward for varied development opportunities whether it's running a workshop or volunteering for an event I always give a 100%.
Main motivation

Collecting tax for the Revenue is a worthy cause as it pays for essential services such as NHS, Housing and Transport and other services. Being able to communicate and negotiate arrangements while working effectively with other teams gets the outcome with little or no effort. I have developed a number of skills such as ability to negotiate, communicating and influencing as well as maintaining excellent stats.

Greatest achievement

I was nominated for an award by my Manager which was a proud achievement, it was fulfilling to be recognised for the work I had done for the department. Having consistently high stats and over delivering got me recognised by my Manager and I won the award. I have been involved in a few projects which has benefited the organisation.
